Is Outpatient Therapy Right for You?
You may be wondering if outpatient therapy is right for you. Below are some primary reasons people decide to seek treatment:

• You have tried your best to address your issues/reduce symptoms with no success.
• Your symptoms are starting to get worse.
• Your symptoms are beginning to interfere with your daily functioning.
• Family/Friends are concerned about your well being.
• You want a neutral person to talk with about your problems.

Choosing A Therapist

Deciding to start therapy is not always easy. It takes courage, commitment and a desire to make a positive difference in your life. If you have decided you are ready to make lasting changes in your life, then finding a therapist is your next step. How do you choose the right therapist for you? If you are looking for someone who will listen to you unconditionally, without judgment, who shows empathy regarding your situation, who is easy to talk with and provides a space where you can feel safe, then I might be the therapist for you. Many of my clients have told me that I am a good listener and that they felt heard and understood. They often say they feel better after talking with me. I cannot guarantee you will feel better after every session, but I can promise I will work with you every step of the way to help you identify problem areas and learn healthier, more productive ways of living for lasting change.

What to Expect
I believe a good therapeutic relationship is critical for therapy to be successful. I think it takes a lot of courage to seek therapy. I feel privileged to be the one you entrust with this important responsibility.

We will work together to determine ways to make positive changes in your life. I mostly stay in the here and now but may discuss past history as it relates to your current situation. My approach is eclectic in that I use different techniques based on your individual needs. The first one to two sessions are used to complete the initial assessment. We will identify areas that are causing problems in your life and develop goals/strategies to address these issues.

It is a collaborative effort. Throughout the therapy process we will make adjustments as needed based on the progress being made. The termination of therapy will also be discussed several sessions in advance to allow time for this transition.
